The Future of the Internet in our Hands (literally)

In this weeks lecture, Ted said something alone the lines of how the future of internet is in our phones. I thought I would steer away from the apple vs android debate and write this weeks blog post on the basis of this quote.

Originally, internet was accessed mainly through computers, but today with around 77% of Australians owning a smart phone, the way we access the internet is changing. We already spend more time on our phones than any other device, why is this change happening and what impact will it have on the future of the internet?

This change is happening as all our devices (calendar, watch, internet, music, books, magazines just to name a few), are all able to be compressed into a smartphone. Another reason may be how fast information is put onto the internet. With citizen journalism on the rise, it easiest way to be connected to current affairs is through a smart phone, instant information on any topic. This is a practice which will only become increasingly more popular.

Here is a REALLY horrible gif i made to explain (sorta) why the smartphones are so popular: (made using giphy: https://giphy.com/gifs/RTxURc0MsmrXW/)
